Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an Indian-born British American musician and sitarist, is well known for her musical talents. She received the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and first female recipient. Alongside nine Grammy nominations, she was also the first Indian-born musician to perform at the award ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is a student and granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born 1982 in London. Her childhood years included a period of time between London and New Delhi. She gave her debut performance on stage in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. When she moved to Encinitas the state of California, in 1999 she earned an honorary high school certificate. Anouskha's career as a musician and performer is impressive, despite her young age. She is often seen performing with her dad and has performed with him for many years. She made Anourag her debut album on her own in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. As she's appeared on many of the biggest stages around all over the globe, her career on stage has been extensive. Her career extends beyond the realm of music. Bapi The Love of My Life is an illustrated biographie she wrote in 2002. It pays special tributes to her late father Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as the role of a Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. Anoushka shankar is a rising celebrity and her popularity is expected to continue growing. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her youth living between London and Delhi then moving to California in the state where she attended the high school. At the age of 9 she began her studies in music with her father. The first time she performed on the sitar came in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka gained a variety of valuable experiences when she accompanied her father during his worldwide tour. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and making recordings with George Harrison. Her musicianship and talent was recognized by British parliament as the best in Asian Arts.
